Mother's Day 2009

My first ever Mother's Day as a mom was wonderful. When I woke up AJ asked me if I would like doughnuts for breakfast so he went and got me doughnuts and strawberry milk, my fave. Then when he came back I went downstairs to get something and he had gotten me these orange gerbera daisies the night before. They were beautiful. My parents also sent me a card that I opened that morning from them. It was great.
Then AJ told me I could go get a pedicure which he knows I love and live for! So this last weekend while he watched Porter on a Saturday morning, I went and got my toes done and loved every minute of it.
Then later that evening when we were eating dinner with Al and Lori had a card and gift for me and so I opened the gift and they had gotten me diamond earrings as Lori had said that whoever gives birth to her grandchildren someday she would give them diamond earrings as it is a lot of work building the baby in pregnancy and then birthing them once they decide to come out. So she gave me mine on Mother's Day which was very fitting and wonderful.
It was nice to be appreciated as a Mother and made me appreciate my mom and AJ's mom and all they did for us as babies, kids, teenagers and now adults! We love our moms and our families and are so thankful they get to be a part of Porter's life now.
Happy Belated Mother's Day to all the mom's out there. We deserve every day to be Mother's Day but it is nice to have a day set aside for us when we are to be extra appreciated!

First of many REI trips

When Porter was a week old we took him on his first ever REI trip. He is in the Moby carrier asleep but we had fun. It did take quite a while to get home as he started crying right before the Woodburn exit so we got off and I fed him and AJ changed him with his last diaper and then I fed him again. 45 minutes later we were back on the freeway home. And we were so glad when we got home. Long day and late evening!

Two months old!

Too Cool for Words

Here we are eight weeks after Mr. Porter entered our world. We love him lots and can't believe how much he has grown. He is smiling and laughing lots and loves to lay on his changing table and coo and talk to us, the valance and the penguin humidifier we have on a shelf above. Cute!

He is the real trooper and has been sleeping in his crib for the last two weeks at night. He usually goes to bed between 9 and 10pm and then wakes up most of the time at 5 or 6am. Some nights vary a little but for the most part we are getting much more sleep. He has always been a good sleeper but we are happy to have our bed back and happy he is getting good sleep in his bed. He had a cold two weeks back and he was still getting stuffy in the morning so we bought a humidifier and he is able to get the better benefits of it in his crib. All in all good for all of us.

He is still eating like a champ and sleeping lots as he seems to be growing super fast. The other day I stepped onto the bathroom scale with him to get a rough estimate of how much he weighs and it was around or more than 13 pounds. He is definitely a solid kid to hold and pick up and when he is in his car seat, yikes! If he keeps growing at this rate he is going to be 8 feet tall. But I will have nice toned arms by the end of the summer!

Here are some pictures a couple of short clips of him talking. Enjoy!

He is sooooo cute!

Looks like Daddy when he is sleeping...

Porter's First Parade, the Keizer Iris Festival Parade.

He loved it so much he decided to sleep through it all. Well, at least that way, Mommy and Daddy could enjoy a little of the parade. We decided we don't like the Iris Parade. I like marching bands and the dance teams and we missed the one and only one in the parade so it wasn't all that enjoyable so we left when Porter woke up. It was fun to get out and be in the sunshine though!

Check out that forehead!

So long...

Well, as a avid fan of Zack Braff, last night I watched his final appearance on Scrubs and was sad he is leaving. I may still watch Scrubs next year but it won't be the same without him. Maybe he will do another amazing movie like Garden State. Till then, my celebrity crush. Wednesday nights won't be the same without you!

Five weeks old!

I can't believe how time has flown. Porter will be five weeks old tomorrow and is growing and changing so much. He talks all the time and loves to kick and push himself up with his legs. He is still working on getting control of his head but he will probably be there in no time. He has started to lose some of the hair on top of his head and is starting to look like his Grandpa DeBacker did before he shaved off all of his hair, imagine the horseshoe, Porter is headed there. We love him lots and he brings joy to our lives! Enjoy some more pictures of him...
I gave Porter a bath the other day and then let him warm up in some blankets in his bouncy chair while I cleaned up the bath. He fell asleep naked (with a diaper on) and I couldn't resist getting pictures of how content he looked. Awwww, such a cutie!

I also got out this wonderful shower gift the other day and Porter enjoyed looking at the dangling things and looking at the mirror that was hanging down as well.

Aunt Christy Rummel from southern California came to visit. Here is Porter wearing his airplane outfit as we were taking Christy back the airport that day.

I am just way to cute to smile!

It was fun to have my sister around and she was very helpful. She even took Porter for a walk one morning by herself in the Moby and I got another hour of sleep uninterrupted!

He is a snuggle bug!
